TANO Public Policy Working Group

What we do

TANO’s Public Policy Working Group:

  • Strengthens the ability of the Texas nonprofit sector to influence policy and decision-makers.
  • Provides a framework through which constituents can process, evaluate and be  proactive about issues that impact the nature of non-profit activity in Texas and beyond. 
  • Compiles local and national issues of potential legal impact into suggested annual public policy agenda for approval by the TANO Board
  • Participates in the legislative process by educating legislators, attending hearings and providing testimony where appropriate.
  • Educates members about the political process and important public policy issues  

 

Our goals

TANO’s Public Policy Working Group's Goals are to:

  • Build capacity of the nonprofit sector in Texas
  • Monitor and take action on public policy issues which affect the sector locally, and as a whole
  • Seek  sector-wide consensus on public policy issues whenever possible
  • Provide a unified voice for TANO and its members
