Special Reports on the Economic Stimulus and Recovery

The Texas Association of Nonprofit Organizations, as a member of the National Council of Nonprofit Associations, is pleased to share NCN's national analyses and perspectives on the economic stimulus and recovery with our Texas nonprofit community, at http://www.tano.org/economic-stimulus-and-recovery/

The NCN series of special reports is intended to help nonprofit leaders, grantmakers, policymakers, and the general public better understand the intersections between the nonprofit sector and our nation’s economic recovery.

The first Special Report - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009: Grant Application Information, Tips, and Thoughts - analyzes the 407-page economic stimulus legislation that President Obama recently signed into law: the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. We are pleased to share this analysis so you can:

  1. 1.    As Americans, better understand this historic piece of legislation (see pages 8-11); and

    2.    As nonprofit leaders, consider ways your nonprofit might qualify for a grant (pages 2-7).

The second Special Report - Federal Economic Stimulus Legislation: Nonprofit Grant Opportunities- focuses on grant information, tips, and considerations – including that the new federal stimulus package offers some grant opportunities, but is not a universal remedy for everyone.

Because the economy is on the top of everyone’s minds, and because this historic legislation is so massive in scale and so fast-moving with quick grant deadlines, the National Council has agreed to provide the Texas Association of Nonprofit Organizations with as much information as possible.  While most State Associations are sharing these valuable analyses only with their members, we, in TANO, are sharing them with our entire Texas nonprofit community.

Future Special Reports will explore not only the stimulus bill, but also promote a deeper understanding about the intersection between the nonprofit sector and our nation’s economic recovery. By providing these new resources to you as they come out, our intent is not to overwhelm you with things to read, but to provide you with quality information about time-sensitive opportunities and issues.

To join the Texas Association of Nonprofit Organizations and be sure to receive such analyses in the future, go to www.tano.org.
