Funding Information Center of the Texas Department of State Health Services' mission is to help organizations in Texas pursue public health funding opportunities. Its website is a great resource on grant opportunities and processes, in general, including, but not limited to:

Grassroots Fundraising Journal is a nonprofit organization, fiscally sponsored by the Agape Foundation.

Hogg Foundation for Mental Health's Regional Foundation Library contains core publications from The Foundation Center as well as other major materials in fund development, grants and nonprofit management. It provides a full range of print materials and a growing number of electronic resources. Because of the availability of electronic information on state and federal grants opportunities, the RFL chooses to emphasize private sector funding options and information (private foundations and corporate foundation/direct giving programs).

  • 2006 Grants Catalog- This catalog lists more than 170 grants programs across several Federal agencies - including the Department of Health and Human Services - that may be of interest to faith-based and community organizations.

 

Foundation Grants

 

The Foundation Center is a nonprofit organization providing an incredible amount of information on foundations. Among other resources, you'll find the Foundation Finder, recent foundation RFPs. and grant maker websites.

Funding Information Centers - are libraries around the state of Texas which provide resources and technical assistance to identify foundations which might fund your project.

Funding Resources for Faith-Based and Community Organizations

White House Office on Faith-based and Community Initiatives  - comprehensive web directory with links to funding opportunities and other related resources.

Center for Faith-based and Community Initiatives/U.S. Department of Health & Human Services HHS discretionary grants are awarded competitively in response to program announcements and other requests for proposals or applications. This site includes links to other resources and information that may be of interest to faith-based and community charitable organizations.

Texas Office of Faith-based and Community Initiatives/OneStar Foundation - works closely with faith-based and community charities to promote and support volunteerism and community service.

Cooperating Collections in Texas - Funding information centers in libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit resource centers in Texas that provide a core collection of Foundation Center publications and a variety of supplementary materials and services in areas useful to grantseekers. The core collections consist of foundation directories, other resource information and special materials prepared by these centers to assist grantseekers in identifying private and corporate funding sources. It is recommended that you call the collection in advance of a visit to determine hours and availability of staff to assist you in a funding search.

Community Grant Support Initiative at Texas A&M - The Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Community Grant Support Initiative helps Texas communities locate and secure funding (federal, state and private) for their projects. This free service is provided by the state of Texas, and is facilitated through TEES within the Texas A&M University System. Specific services include proposal writing and review, funding referral, needs-assessment, literature review and evaluation.

Council on Foundations- Information on foundations, links to foundation homepages and other sites of interest to foundations and grant-seekers.

Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives/U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development- The aim of the HUD Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is to engage faith-based and other community-based organizations in HUD's mission.

Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives/U.S. Department of Education - The goal of the Center is to break down existing barriers and empower faith-based and community groups, enlisting them in support of the Department's mission to ensure equal access to education and to promote educational excellence for all Americans.

Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives/U.S. Department of Agriculture -The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a long history or working with faith-based organizations in some of its programs. A lot of people don't realize that the Department of Agriculture operates the school lunch program, the school breakfast program, the food stamp program, the TEFAP program, the WIC program. All of the feeding programs are operated from USDA. And in many of these programs they partner with faith-based and community organizations to deliver our services."

The U.S. Agency on International Development - USAID has a long•standing history of successful partnerships with private voluntary organizations, including faith-based organizations, that have been highly effective and efficient in implementing USAID programs around the world which non-government organizations are uniquely qualified to pursue.
 

State of Texas Grants

 

Texas Department of Health Funding Alert contains information on federal and state funding opportunities.

Texas Register is published online every Friday. Located the bottom of the table of contents page under the heading "IN ADDITION" are announcements of state funding opportunities.

Texas Marketplace is an online tool that the State of Texas uses to facilitate electronic commerce, including government procurement and private-sector trade opportunities.

State Agencies: most state agencies have a page dedicated to funding opportunities.Visit the state agency most likely to fund your program for more information.
