Mary Beth Harrington currently serves as Director of Community Outreach for the Texas Association of Nonprofit Organizations (TANO). Prior to working at TANO, Harrington was Executive Director of the Austin Public Library Foundation and Director of Agency Relations at the Volunteer Center of North Texas (VCNT). Volunteer management is nothing new to Mary Beth, before working at the Volunteer Center, she served as Volunteer Coordinator for the Dallas Public Library, where she was responsible for over 3500 volunteers at 23 locations. An enthusiastic speaker, Harrington is an advocate for the nonprofit sector having spoken about issues facing our nonprofit community at local, state and national conferences including the International Conference on Volunteer Administration Conference. In addition, she has been a visiting professor at SMU and UNT as well as a contributor to Volunteer Management Review, the Journal of Volunteer Administration and selected as a LeadershipPlenty trainer for the Points of Light Foundation. Previous to her experience in volunteer management, Harrington spent the first ten years of her career in the public relations and advertising field where she promoted both national and local clients – everything from a building implosion to cinnamon rolls.

The Four R’s of Volunteer Management:
Recruiting, Recognition and Retention = Revenue
Target audience: Volunteer Managers/Coordinators as well as Executive Directors and staff members who may not fully appreciate how volunteers can strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of your nonprofit organization!
Feed the Homeless Mentor Children Build a House
These are excellent ways to utilize volunteers but they can do more! Volunteers are (or at least should be!) an integral part of any nonprofit organization. But, while more people volunteer today than ever before, they are volunteering less hours so as nonprofit leaders we have to learn how to more effectively utilize the new breed of volunteer!
In this session, participants will learn:
- how volunteers impact the bottom line of your budget,
- how to effectively utilize every possible volunteer
- how to recruit the volunteers you need and then keep them!
Bring your lunch, business cards, brochures, and a friend!
You do not want to miss this opportunity! Mary Beth is OUTSTANDING!
