Open source content management systems (CMSs) are particularly attractive to the nonprofit community because of their cost-efficiency, but what do these systems actually do? And what are the differences between the most common CMSs? We’ll compare WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and Plone for typical nonprofit needs and then experts will demo the systems and answer your questions.
The agenda is focused on live demos of these four systems. With just a quick introduction to the concept of open source content management systems, we’ll spend about fifteen minutes looking at each of the four systems.
By the end of the session, you will understand:
• What an open source content management system is
• A basic understanding of the structure and differences between WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and Plone
• How the four systems compare in terms of ease of getting started, ease of use for your staff, content organization, graphic flexibility, and more
• A sense of which one or two systems might make the most sense for your needs
Conducted by Heather Gardner-Madras and Laura Quinn
