Shari Carle-In nearly 11 years of employment at Dell, the last four spent establishing the company's sustainability function, Shari Carle wrote Dell’s book on green procedures while engaging with socially responsible shareholders, working closely with the company’s investor relations team to address concerns and identify its best practices, and measuring success. Shari acted as Dell’s liaison with forest ethics and other interest groups in Dell’s efforts to understand stakeholder concerns and how to work together to address them, and facilitated the Dell team responsible for creating policies to support the company’s corporate responsibility efforts. She marshaled the development of various policies and positions to communicate the company’s commitment to sustainable practices, including Dell’s forest products stewardship model, which set measurable goals and standards to protect forest resources in the printing of Dell catalogs and purchasing. Shari also led the company in developing Dell’s policies and positions on HIV/AIDS, political donation transparency and supply chain responsibility. Shari left Dell in 2008 to establish the Carle West Group, a nonprofit consulting organization. A 2003 MBA graduate from The McCombs School at The University of Texas, Shari added to her "practical" green credentials in 2009, teaching BPI energy efficiency certification classes for a local real estate school. Shari and her husband have also engaged in various "for-profit" startup activities in 2009 to support their interests in charity.
