LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS INSTITUTE
In today’s challenging environment nonprofits needs to be flexible, have an in-depth understanding of their business model and make ongoing decisions to achieve sustainability.
Based on the best-selling book, Nonprofit Sustainability; Making Strategic Decisions for Financial Viability, this Nonprofit Texas Leadership Institute provides the tools to help nonprofit professionals meet these challenges. We’ll introduce participants to the Matrix Map, a visual depiction of the organization’s business model showing the integrated manner in which your activities work to achieve both mission impact and financial viability. The Matrix Map will also outline challenges and opportunities, identify the strategic imperatives for your organization and highlight the implications of your decisions. In addition, executives will have a powerful way to engage their board in the strategic discussions and decisions necessary to move toward long-term sustainability.
By the end of this Institute, participants will be able to:
- Understand the orientation of sustainability, how business lines interact to create impact and financial viability and the role of strategic decision making.
- Create a Matrix Map, a visual representation of their organization’s business model including identifying business lines and then assessing mission impact and determining profitability for each business line.
- Identify the strategic imperatives for their organization’s business lines and the strategic decisions to be made.
- Engage board and staff in a strategic discussion about the direction of their organization and how each business line contributes to the sustainability of their organization.
All registrants will receive one copy of Nonprofit Sustainability: Making Strategic Decisions for Financial Viability co-authored by Jeanne Bell, Jan Masaoka and Steve Zimmerman (Jossey-Bass, 2010), Continental breakfast and lunch included in the registration fee
