LBC Consultants

Laura Browning understands the many dimensions of sustaining leadership, from being a member of grassroots organizations to serving on the Board of National organizations to speaking in Barcelona, Spain and Melbourne, Australia.

A frequent speaker, trainer and blogger on mission and program, governance, grant writing and strategic planning at conferences, seminars, webinars, and personal coaching, she delivers her message about the need to create self-renewing, sustaining organizations.

Ms. Browning, a native of Ohio, grew up in southern Louisiana and received a Masters’ in Education with additional graduate work in nonprofit leadership, and technology, from Nicholls State University, Universities of Louisiana-Lafayette, Monroe and New Orleans. Her nonprofit experience includes time as a volunteer, board member, development director and Executive Director in diverse fields such as domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse programs with community, faith-based and student leadership organizations. Laura is the former Capacity Building Director for Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) in New Orleans. In all of those roles, the partnerships and voices have taught her knowledge, and given her the experience to communicate the partnerships and voices on larger platforms.

Browning gained vision and values from living in communities during disasters and working as part of Long Term Community Recovery Teams(LTR) through FEMA (Katrina) in New Orleans. She’s learned to be savvy, have persistence and be daring in telling the stories of those partnerships and communities that have touched her, and now she intends to create community impact using all those dimensions of leadership-partnership, voice, vision, values, knowledge, daring and persistence

Personally, friends and foes alike have described her as having passion for community, a great laugh, and a great strength of character. She is the President of LBC Consultants, specializing in creative organizational management support. The goal of LBC Consultants is the creation of self-renewing and sustaining organizations.

Full Description
Fundamentals of Grant Writing - From research to development!

How many times have you thought I am a good writer, I should be able to write grants, right? Fundamentals of grant writing involves several skills- research, planning, and the basic elements of a grant. This session will give you fundamental, beginning, basic skills in all three areas. Just knowing how to match good research to the right project is a skill to be developed. One of our questions, is always where do I begin to look for grants?  And, when you find the one you think might be the right one, then to work with mapping and planning the actual writing is still another skill to be honed. Finally and most importantly, the actual writing.  The webinar will help you look a typical grant from abstract to budget, and begin developing a template for grant writing.  With each grant, whether it is a two-pager from a local funder, or a much larger collaborative from a national funder, the framework is very similar.  The goal is to introduce you to the Fundamentals of Grant Writing, from research, to planning, to basic writing of the elements of a grant.

Target audience:  Anyone who is new to writing grants though individuals who have previously written grants can also learn some pointers and advantages of seeking different grants as well as methods for writing more successful grants.

Cost:  $50 per session for Non-TANO Members
$25 per session for TANO Members
