Two New SQL Server Products Added to the Microsoft Catalog
These two new SQL server products offer the same core database functionality as Microsoft’s SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard, but are equipped specifically for use as web and workgroup servers to better suit your organization's needs.
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Web Editionoffers a data storage, management, and reporting platform for deploying and hosting Internet-accessible web pages, sites, applications, and services. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Workgroup Edition offers a data storage, management, and reporting platform for remote offices or branch locations.
The Web and Workgroup editions do not include support for data warehousing, data mining, analysis services, and other advanced functionality, such as failover clustering and certain security, integration, and reporting services found in the Standard Edition.
