Promising philanthropists to be featured in cover story, April 2011.
Austin, TX – January 25, 2011 – Nominations are now being accepted for the “New Philanthropists” cover story, to feature 20 of Austin’s most promising philanthropy leaders.
The online magazine, GivingCity Austin, which focuses on local philanthropy, is looking for “budding philanthropists, the Austinites who will help build a culture of generosity over the next decade.” (See blog post link, above.) In the past, Austin has ranked low among large cities in terms of local giving and has recently dropped in ratings for local volunteering, as well. Many attribute this to a young, transient population. By featuring role models who display the beginnings of a long commitment to local philanthropy, GivingCity hopes to encourage more young and energetic Austinites to step up.
GivingCity is accepting nominations online now through February 28, 2011. To submit a nominee, go to http://www.GivingCityAustin.com
GivingCity Austin has been published as an online magazine since 2007. In 2010, the Austin Community Foundation adopted GivingCity Austin as a project because it aligned with ACF’s goal of building a culture of philanthropy in Austin. This “New Philanthropists” cover story is the second one from GivingCity Austin. To view the previous list of “New Philanthropists,” click here.
